I know this sounds weird, but Rush Limburger has turned out to be a major factor in Barack Obama's success. I am completely shocked that the Republicans are bending over to someone that is helping the leader of the other party succeed. You would think that someone from the Republican Party would stop and analyze how Rush has helped Obama succeed, but apparently the Republicans lack analytical skill.
Let's go back to the Democratic primaries. During "Operation Chaos", Rush Limbaugh asked his listeners to vote for Hillary Clinton in order to drag out the Democratic primary. Dutifully, the Republicans intervened in the Texas and Ohio primary and forced the Democratic primary to continue to North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Indiana, etc. There is a pretty good chance that if Hillary had lost Texas or Ohio, she would have dropped out of the primary.
Now let's recall what happened right after the Texas primary. The Rev. Wright controversy broke into the media, and Obama was smacked around for almost a month about the issue. Due to the prolonged the Democratic primary, Obama was able to get in front of the American people and explain the situation long before the general election. I am fairly confident that if the Democratic primary had ended after Texas, the Rev. Wright controversy probably wouldn't have broken into the media until October, when Obama may not have had an opportunity to contain the damage.
The other result of Operation Chaos was that the Democrats registered huge numbers of people in states that Democrats haven't been competitive in for over a generation, North Carolina and Indiana. I doubt very seriously that Obama would have won these two states if the Democrats hadn't put so many resources in those states during the primaries.
So all in all, Rush Limbaugh has been a huge ally to Barack Obama, and he is helping Obama right now. The Republicans are now being viewed as obstructionist due to their bending over to Limbaugh, and they are probably going to lose additional Senate and House seats in 2010 if they continue to stand in the President's way.
Thanks Rush!. I used to call Michael Steele the gift that keeps on giving, but I am going to have to transfer that name over to you now. Viva RUSH!
