I have a Republican friend, who despite my refusal to needle him over Dubya in the last eight years, absolutely MUST throw some kind of Obama dig at me in every email.
Today was some kind of blame of the market dipping below 7,000 on my beloved president who has been in charge for 44 days now. My response to him after the jump:
The market fails to concern me. We will get what we deserve, given the focus of incivility, greed, easy money and intrusion we have gotten for 20 of the last 28 years.
I have a growing faith in America as we return to the ideals of hard work, compassion, charity, education and freedom. I am not terribly concerned that some people can no longer afford private jets and other ill-gotten bounty through carpetbaggery. I'd rather see kids get medical treatment and educational opportunities instead. I know it is no longer the same kind of bastardization of capitalism glorified at Wharton, but all the polls tell us Americans are pleased as punch about our new focus.
It is a new day and America is reemerging from the prejudice, greed and indifference of recent decades. I am excited and enthusiastic for my country!
Much of the reason for the market have such trouble is that the same idiots who played a role in the economic disaster didn't see any of it coming. Now they are now squawking that the sky has fallen and that only they have solutions. Of course at this point, they have nary an iota of credibility, but remain relevant with the other pharisees.
Their greedy little ways of life has imploded and they aren't coping well. The chickens have come home to roost. Time for them to get right with both God and country, because they have not been terribly concerned with either.
I remain full of optimism that we, guided by a brilliant and moral president, can steer through the morass we've made (and celebrated) and that hard times are temporary. If we never possess the materialism that has been the hallmark of the last 25 years, that is okay with me.
We need to make sure that we don't allow folks to be homeless and hungry and trust that the kids are all right. But that requires us to put down the golf club or the remote and talk to them.
I have been happier with the market below 8,000 than I ever was when it was 12,000. It's up to you to decide if you want to jump aboard. Please consider it, we could use you.
