Robert Stacey McGain did the unforgivable. He sneaked into a McAuliffe event, put his arms around McAuliffe's shoulder which McAuliffe (being the warm hearted and friendly person he is) reciprocated. Picture was taken, and then posted by Robert Stacey McGain, making several claims of friendship.
A Moran Campaign Supporter Blogger picked this up and posted it on Blue Commonwealth with allegations and misrepresentations any one would be ashamed of.
What a shame that the Moran campaign has so little integrity and substance that they have to frame McAuliffe to compete! Like all attempts at injustice, this one also failed and Virginian's saw through this.
PLEASE can the Moran Campaign supporters highlight Moran's achievements and contributions to Virginia, and forget about attempting to damage McAuliffe?
For just one minute, let the Moran Campaign imagine on June 10th we have the Democratic Nominee, Mr. Brian Moran - what next? Start a smear campaign against Bob McDonnell? Does any one seriously think Virginia voters are so stupid that they will vote for the lesser of two bad candidates?
I have a picture with Mark Warner and his wife, where you would think I was their best friend. When Mark Warner becomes President of the United States, I will frame and hang the picture in my living room. I will be the envy of my family, friends and visitors, because they will think, "Wow, Alan must be close to the President because he has such a great picture with the President and First Lady."
When my guests compliment and congratulate me, being as honest and humble as I am, I will have to confess - "Actually, the picture was taken when Warner was Governor of Virginia, and I visited him at the Governor's Mansion for a celebration to which I was invited, and I just happened to be fortunately in the area for the official photographer to take the picture and the Governor's office was gracious to send me a copy. Warner had no clue who I was, does not know my name and would not recognize me today"
The point I am making is:
- Photographs seldom have dates, and within reason it is easy to pass them off as more than they are.
- Politicians generally have no clue whose hands they shake, whom they exchange hugs with and whom they are speaking with at a public event.
- I am willing to undertake contracts from any one who is willing to pay me a fee, to take a convicted prostitute, convicted felon (or higher if you wish, perhaps for a higher fee?), convicted pedophile, or what ever person without standing in society you wish, to any of the campaigning politicians and have them shake hands, return a hug, stand shoulder to shoulder, or do what ever they can do in public! And, I can get pictures of this as well to prove my point, - though, of course, I will not release the picture to any one to publish and attempt to tarnish the image of a well meaning politician trying to serve our State and our community.
Robert Stacey McCain is pathetic to use this picture to claim any familiarity with McAuliffe.
Todd Smith Merlin is a loser to not just publish this picture, but to waste time doing the research to include all those web links! Okay, so Stacey McCain is a scumbag per Todd Smith. Great. When Stacey McCain runs for office, do all this research and publication to ensure he is not elected - I will probably help the effort to protect our State from such persons. What has that to do with Terry McAuliffe's campaign? Do you take Virginian's to be be so infantile that they will not vote for a candidate because of abuse of a picture?
Now, if the Moran campaign uses this picture in an attempt to undermine McAuliffe, it will be so revealing that many would wonder why Moran just does not concede defeat now and save the effort and expense of losing at the Primary on June 9th. Moran has a lot going for him, and he can run a clean campaign, and stand a decent chance of winning the nomination. Misguided and largely out of state bloggers who hate McAuliffe are doing sufficient damage to Moran's campaign, by having nothing positive to state about Moran - while they say nasty things about McAuliffe at the rate of almost one a minute - I got over 45 comments in about 50 minutes, at about 1:00 AM Eastern, when I published a Diary, "What Makes McAuliffe Tick" on Daily Kos earlier this week. Once the comments on that diary stop, I will publish research on the responses and it will be very revealing how the mutual admiration society of McAuliffe haters are collectively damaging Moran's candidacy for Governor of Virginia.
What surprises me is that until today the Moran campaign has not commented on the negative campaigning, and have not distanced themselves from those who spit obscenities in their postings and comments on any Blog site, particularly one that they are surely reading. We are Americans, and proud Virginians, and I believe no self respecting Virginian will tolerate obscenities being thrown at any of our elected officials and candidates. For the same reason, I am willing to bet that no self respecting Virginian will ever hurl obscenities and misrepresentations at any of our candidates.
So why does not the Moran campaign condemn such activity?
