Since Palin appears to be running for office in 2012, there is no better time to keep tabs on her than now. I believe many belated thanks should go out to Sarah Palin. I mean, this woman, in 6 short weeks, literally destroyed the Republican Party. Of course, Katie Couric & Tina Fey helped. And John McCain. But don't take my word for it. Just ask By T. Coddington Van Voorhees VII
But la Palin offers true conservatives no such extenuating graces. I mean, my God, this woman is simply awful; the elided vowels, the beauty pageantry, the guns, the crude non-Episcopal protestantism, the embarrassing porchload of children with horrifying hillbilly names, the white after Labor Day. As fellow conservative commentator Andrew Sullivan quipped to me the other day outside a Martha’s Vineyard antique shop, it’s gratifying to know the Gipper isn’t alive to see what has become of his party.
Follow me beneath the fold for some more droppings...
But look out Sarah...Eric Martin says that there has been speculation (both on the right and left) that General David Petraeus might throw his hat in the ring as a would-be contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016. Considering the uninspiring roster of GOP hopefuls (from Palin and Huckabee to Romney and Jindal), it’s easy to see why GOP stalwarts are pining for this man in uniform.
Sarah also needs to keep her eye on Mitt, who, for the first time in his adult life, is unemployed. The Mittster is busy doing Republican fundraisers. Romney's also supervising the sale of houses he owns in Massachusetts and Utah, the type of excess real estate that brought ridicule to John McCain last fall. And his political action committee is seeding money to candidates across the country.
Stalwarts may be pining for Petraeus, but Greta of FoxNews and her husband, John Coale, are making a double deposit and banking on Palin:
The state of confusion is compounded by two separate Palin spheres that don’t communicate with each other, one based in the governor’s office and another based in the D.C.-area, where Palin’s political action committee is located-and the incongruous presence of a high-profile Democratic trial lawyer among her political advisers.
The lawyer, John Coale, is a former supporter of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign who became a Palin confidante as his wife, Fox News host Greta Van Susteren, interviewed the former GOP vice presidential nominee and her family numerous times during and after the election.
Greta responds, thru Politco,"I am getting lots of inquires about my husband John Coale — no, he is not a paid adviser to Governor Palin and never has been," Van Susteren wrote on her blog recently. "He met her through me when I interviewed her....I did not meet her through him. I have gotten interviews with her not through him but through our staff on [her show]. It is that simple."
Smells rotten to me. The Politico article above is a must read (called "Staff Infection: Allies Rip Palin Team"). You can visit Greta's {Warning--Fox News Website} place for some more droppings.
According to blogger Andrew Halcro, "Van Susteren landed Palin's first interview after she returned home from her Vice Presidential run in November and this past week Van Susteren landed the first public media appearance by the governor's daughter and grandson. From snowmobiling and cooking moose hot dogs in Wasilla, to greeting racers at the end of the Iron Dog in Fairbanks, Van Susteren has had more one on one face time with Palin than most State commissioners."
Another ethics complaint has been filed against Gov. Sarah Palin that claims a conflict of interest because she wore Arctic Cat logo gear during the Tesoro Iron Dog snowmobile race.
The governor called the latest complaint "another frivolous ethics charge" by a political blogger. "This would be hilarious if it weren't so expensive for the state to process these accusations and for me to defend against these bogus harassments," Palin said in her written statement. Palin's husband, Todd, is sponsored by Arctic Cat in the Iron Dog, the world's longest snowmobile race. Palin calls the complaint "asinine political grandstanding" by a blogger.
Poster GJid at themudflats in Alaska wonders if the new Adorama Camera ($4,859.35) the Gov’s department bought this last quarter was used to make those $15.95 calendars Sarah is selling.
An anonymous commenter wonders if any of the calendar pictures show the Governor Breast Feeding Trig back in April/May/June, that might put the baby issue to rest. By the way, the calendar, since the writing of this diary, has gone on sale......Believe it or not, it can be yours ladies and gentlemen, for the low low price of $4.99 at Amazon and Super Saver Shipping is available! {lol lol lol} And customers who bought this item also bought the book "Guilty" by Coulter.
In an effort to reinforce positive behavior among non-conservatives, Conservatives4palin named Mike Doogan "Our Democrat of the Month". Nice going Mike. Hope it keeps you warm at night. A
big surprise is that when the story broke that Doogan outed AKM of Mudflats, they did condemn his actions. A poster at the Blue Oasis wonders "Didn't Doogan also use a pen name when he wrote his books, and is that not the same as writing anonymously?
