Well, way up there anyway.
Much has already been posted here on the brilliant episode of The Daily Show that ran on Comedy Central last night.
I strongly commend you to watch last night's Colbert Report as well. It was a devastating takedown of Glenn Beck's insane "War Room" series, where apocalyptic scenarios are posed to "experts" for no other purpose than instilling fear into his viewership, and by extension, a takedown of all right-wing scare-mongering.
The section of Colbert's show about Glenn Beck started at the 5:00 mark of Act One (the section before the first commercial) and the entire Act Two.
He actually created his own panel discussion discussing crackpot disaster scenarios, featuring Ret. Col. Jack Jacobs, who is an actual retired military colonel and who was a terrific sport in this piece, and the execrable Stephen Moore, a Wall Street Journal editorial page wackjob, who actually appeared in one of those insane Glenn Beck segments, and who played along in this piece pretty well, truth be told.
This piece, in combination with the brilliant Daily Show episode, constituted one of the greatest hours of political satire ever seen on television, in my humble opinion.
Folks, right now with The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, we are witnessing a true Golden Age of Television. One day these shows won't be on the air any more and we'll be telling future generations about how brilliant they were. We should all be enjoying them now.
