Today, President Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emanuel hinted at a new approach to law enforcement. He called it the "moving forward" school of criminal justice.
"People, in good faith, were operating with the guidance they were provided", he said, referring to violent criminals, (and their parents).
"This is not a time for retribution, it's a time for reflection.", he said, quoting the President....
..."therefore", he went on, "the President asks that all Americans go sit in front of a mirror, and reflect on this bold new initiative to end crime as we know it: by not prosecuting criminals, crime becomes legal, voila, no more crime! It's flawless!"... "We can begin closing down the penitentiaries immediately."
When asked what all these newly freed ex-prisoners would do for work, he announced a new jobs program manufacturing the millions of mirrors and building the thousands of reflecting pools that will be urgently needed in this post criminal world.
What of robbery victims, the interviewer asked? "We will provide them with free mirrors".
etc.
