My son has family in Shreveport, Louisiana who are quite attached to me, even though I have been an Ex for years. Last week my son's Aunt called in a panic because her partner was in jail after getting into an accident with an unregistered vehicle. He is a diabetic with heart trouble, and the last time he had been in jail they wouldn't allow anyone to bring his meds to him and he got very sick.
I in my infinite wisdom (I live in NH) told her to stand up to them, that it couldn't be legal to withhold medical attention. Well she did and they let her bring them down, but they are apparently retaliating. They trashed his truck, destroyed his meds, took her cellphone, and a receipt showing he had paid a fine is now missing....it had been in the truck, and now they have "no record" of him having paid. So now they have to come up with another 250$ or he goes back to jail. Not to mention they heard something about a possible warrant being issued for her partner's arrest because of some new charge involving a sword... that never happened.
I can't believe any of this crap is happening, I had heard Louisiana was corrupt...but things like this just don't seem to happen up here in NH. My son's Aunt now tells me that horrible things have happened to others who have stood up to the powers that be, something I didn't know last week. They appear to have nowhere to go, so does anyone know of any organizations that might help? Is the ACLU down there, the Southern Poverty Law Center? Can anyone from Louisiana, preferably Shreveport, chime in?
