Ex NFL player and current Evangelical Christian Pastor Ken Hutcherson. He is what is wrong with Christianity.
Christians - I'm calling on you to rid your religion of garbage like this - just as you call on muslims to rid extremists from theirs.
"I believe in Jesus Christ, and if you don't, that's ok, you are going to fry like a Jimmy Dean Sausage on Judgment Day"
My wife recently showed me a quote made by a controversial right wing pastor here in the Seattle area. He was responding to the outrage that an atheist group "attacked" Christians with their horrible sign. You may have seen O'reilly shitting himself with rage on TV about the issue. The comments did however provide a window into the hate and fear that flows through this man's body. The Pastor made some incredibly ignorant and hateful statements to KING 5 news. (basically spreading the love of Christ to the World). Here is the quote:
"I believe in Jesus Christ, and if you don't, that's ok, you are going to fry like a Jimmy Dean Sausage on Judgment Day"
Here is some background on the context of his quote - so you are given the chance to examine both sides of the issue. You can find the entire report on rightwingwatch.com and search by Ken Hutcherson. The pastor was responding to the perceived attack on his religion by the words in the sign. For the record, the sign said this:
"At this season of the Winter Solstice may reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."
It was placed near the Nativity scene that was allowed to be on the grounds of the Capital. The Atheists wanted to put their sign up too. Were they trying to make a statement? Probably. Were they "attacking Christianity"? - Definitely not. I know about attacking Christianity.
The sign was simply a statement of their beliefs. Why shouldn't they get to air their beliefs. I mean - just because they are actually based on science and evidence not mythology and legend doesn't mean they are any less valid. Christians yell the loudest that they can't air their beliefs (my ass). But they are the first to complain when others present alternative views to their faith.
Ken Hutcherson is incredibly bigoted and homophobic. Unfortunately - he may have suffered a few too many blows to the head while playing football and his mind is now just a jumbled mess of fear, hate, ignorance, and bigotry. Here are some examples taken from Right Wing Watch:
Responding to E-harmony being required to cease discrimination against gay people:
Dr. Hutcherson says eHarmony should have taken a stand.
"To bow and say okay...that is turning against God who made his business successful," he argues.
Hutcherson says it is time for Christians to take a stand. "We're simply becoming evan-jellyfish with no spiritual vertebrae...and I'm appalled, I am mad, I am frustrated. I want to fight this and that is something we need to do," he chides"
OK champ - here's the deal. You guys love to insinuate that you always have to bow to the liberals or the gays or the prostitutes, or the vegarians, or the animal lovers, etc. Ya - Christians have it really tough here in America. Really tough. You are SO persecuted. The only times anyone speaks up against Christianity is when it's followers ignorantly try to push their viewpoints onto others.
I hate to burst your bubble, or expose your rediculous scam of "pray away the gay camp", but people are born gay. People are animals. There are gay animals (when Christians love to say they don't exist. Hell Rev, maybe even some of your pets are gay. I'd start checking him out every time he sniffs another dogs butt. Wouldn't want him traveling don that dark path to - OH SHIT - THE GAY!!!!!!! Maybe you had etter get nanny-cam to make sure sparky isn't let Chip ***** his ***** while he stands at your kitchen table.
Most of your intelligent brethren can see where this movement is going, and they know that bigotry isn't going to fly. I know that is so hard for you to understand - because science destroys your whole platform. You reject the science - because - well, come on - most Evangelicals "don't do science".
Eventually you will have to concede that people are just born gay. Hopefully, someday you will realize that you can't and should not "fix them" (because they are not broken)- just as someone can't and should "fix" me from having blue eyes and a tanned, Adonis like body. And as much as you try to shove it down deep within you - NO ONE CAN OR SHOULD "fix" you from being - well - I think you get the picture.
The fight for their rights is the same type of struggle you experienced fighting for yours. You should be their biggest cheerleader, and opening the doors of your church for them as they are, not as you demand they be. And a little side note - your demands aren't based on anything at all. It's actually quite depressing to see what "evidence" is presented.
If you are willing to accept that most of what you believe has been scientifically PROVEN wrong, not with junk Christian science, (which is debunked) - not with shady tactics (which are revealed) - no with real honest science - from a scientist with a ton of knowledge. PREPARE TO BE SCHOOLED - THAT IS ONLY IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH FAITH IN YOUR CREATIONIST BELIEFS. Search POTHOLER54 on youtube to be amazed by the simplicity to which he absolutely destroys the "arguments" of fundamentalist Christians.
People are people, we are the same. I can't understand what struggle you went through in the fight for YOUR civil rights. But Coretta Scott King can. She has stated many times that her husband Dr. King, would have definitely been on the side of gay rights. That would have put you squarely at odds with someone you quote so often. DO YOU KNOW WHAT PASTOR - THAT DREAM HE HAD WAS MEANT FOR EVERYONE - NOT JUST YOU. You should feel shame - but you won't.
That's a pretty strong statement I think. And if you weren't so bigoted -you would too.
Here's another brain teaser for you - I am sure I won't get an answer - or the answer will toe the Christian party line. Why can I - a devout atheist who has shunned Christianity for over 10 years, and who runs a blasphemous website mocking the absurdities of Christian fundamentalists like Pastor Hutcherson get married - in a church - and two loving CHRISTIAN gays or lesbians can't get married anywhere. I've blasphemed more than they ever will.
Next time we'll tell you how he weaseled his way into Microsoft Annual Shareholder's meeting to voice his angry bigoted hate speech. (Microsoft had the audacity to offer benefits to partners not just spouses).
About his bigoted yet surprisingly small protest of his daughter's school as they honored victims of LGBT harassment and violence in a day of silence. You must have had it pretty OK growing up reverend - for you to not see the clear parallel here. But then again - I think the hate clouds everything, doesn't it.
And finally - my absolute favorite - Pastor Ken's hatred of the homeless. I'll tell you how he wanted other churches to remove tent cities because the the bible says you have to work to eat - and the homeless are just lazy.
This coming from a guy who was fortunate enough to be blessed with football abilities, then was fortunate enough to work in a career as a scam artist taking money from his flock of mindless zombie sheep.
Pastor Ken lives in a house that's worth just under a million - and he's got several LLC's where I'm sure he stashes a ton of cash.
The good lord is smiling on this fat bastard. He deserves our scorn.
Until next time....
