So...now we know that all of the e-voting machines contain wi-fi components. We know that anyone with a little skill and a hand held devise can park across the street from a polling place and hack the voting machines. We know that some members of the FEC expressed concern about this flaw in the e-voting system, but voted to authorize e-voting anyway.
We know, in our hearts and under our tinfoil hats, that election results during the past 3 cycles have been rife with contradictions between exit polling and reported vote counts, and that voting machines are free of security and supervision in many jurisdictions...and we know there will be another election in 4 months.
All of our organizing, enthusiam, and dedication will not protect democracy if there are those who are determined to steal another election. So...what are we going to do about it?
I think I have an idea that will get the attention of everyone, make the FEC reconsider their decision to allow wi-fi components in e-voting machines, and throw the election stealers into a panic.
In reading various diaries here on KOS, I have detected a very high level of technical sophistication, and I propose we put it to use.
Let's put our heads together and figure out how to hack the voting machines. Once the necessary code is fully debugged, and ready for rollout, let's put up a diary on KOS with complete instructions on how to alter the totals of a voting machine, or the server it reports to, so that anyone and everyone can hack the e-voting machines in their own precinct. We can chose the candidate we want to see elected and insure his or her victory.
If democracy is to be sold to the highest bidder and factions can not be trusted to play fair on election day, shall we join the mayhem? I suspect that changes would quickly follow...
