I just saw Carville's "40 More Years: How the Democrats Will Rule the Next Generation " at the library.
(Yes, I love the library, they give you books for free, and if you don't like them, you don't have to read them. Bonus, when you move you don't have to schlep boxes and boxes of books. Support your local library!!!)
This makes me more than a little bit nervous. I can't help but think of Rove's "Permanent Republican Majority".
Of course, the Democrats are not run by lunatics, but still 40 years? I'm not quite willing to concede that as a done deal.
How can one party govern effectively for that period of time?
How do we not fall into the same trap that catches every party that is dominant so long?
Are there things we can do now, while it's early, that will help build a healthy party for the long run?
As you can see, I don't seem to have much in the way of answers, just the questions.
