Any minute now 168 members of the Republican National Committee will be voting on a resolution to re-brand the Democratic Party. The original version of the resolution enjoined Dems to accept the label "Democrat Socialist Party," for the sake of being honest with American people. But one committeeman from California told me on camera that "fascist" and "national socialist" had both been proposed as serious options. There seemed to be about an even split between supporters and opponents of the resolution (whatever its substance), and I think these comments shed some light on the psycho-political tensions within the party.
