I love dkos.com. This place is a fountain of current knowledge. Markos, you have redifined the term "current event" in the way this site works. Perhaps some of you have seen it before, but sometimes I take offense to the horrible fact that I am from Georgia and yes, my state is a republipcan stranglehold. However, today I noticed something that might make this site feel good and it made me feel good enough to want to share it. I saw it watching NACAR, and it kinda represented the way I feel being a progressive from the south. What you are about to see is something that has never happened before in the history of the sport, check the link below.

The point of this is to reiterate what the announcer (Mike Joy) says at 27 seconds into the youtube cast. NASCAR stopped by the request of the president. There has never been a yellow flag for this reason ever. Infact, I don't think the race teams were even let in on the decision to do this. Bryan France and the brass there decided to make an unpresidented decision. The race stopped at 3:00 in order to respect President's Obama's request for a national moment of silence. It was a unique event in NASCAR history, only made possible by the horrible weather suroundind the event (which should have been comlpleted yesterday), but I really saw it as a remarkable example of how NASCAR fans found a way to whole-heartedly support an Obama initiative.
