Listening to Arlen Specter on Meet The Press - When Gregory asked him if he would support a Public Option for Health Reform, he said flatly, "No, I would not support a public option. I would support health insurance for all ."
I got to thinking about this, because he spoke about cancer research and how he probably wouldn't be here without it.
I got to thinking about how he would be another conservadem screwing with the agenda to help folks like me with our health insurance dilemmas.
So, here's a message for Arlen:
Hey Arlen,
My health insurance is way too expensive for me to sustain.
It will go up again in July to anywhere from $515 to $585 per month
with an additonal $292 out-of-pocket expense should I need to use it for
something like, God forbid, Cancer or serious disease. ($807 to $877 per month)
The problem with your philosophy, Arlen, is that should this happen,
I would probably be too sick to continue working in order to pay for this
outragiously expensive junk insurance, so, I would end up unable to receive treatment is this "land of the free", "home of the plenty".
This translates to: Unlike you, Arlen, my chances for surviving
Cancer would be slim and none.
Slim and none, that's the chances for survival for at least 40 million
uninsured. But, I want you to consider that it is the same survival rate
for those of us who pay for our own insurance.
It is the same estimated survival rate for those of us who do not have
guaranteed union jobs, because we could be terminated and left without
the where-with-all to sustain our insurance policies.
I believe you should reconsider your stance on this issue, just like you
reconsidered your political affiliation.
If not, I think there could be a Primary Challenge for you from a Democratic candidate who more reflects our values.
