I have been discussing the issue of torture with a local conservative talk show host via the e-mail.
My position is that torture violates our basic premise upon which this country was founded and is, regardless of the supposed effectiveness, an immoral action. His view is, of course, different, though he has admitted that it is wrong.
I'm looking for a little additional assistance from all of you to buttress my arguments.
What I'm looking for, and have not been able to find, are the claims by the Bush administration of the effectiveness of their methods and what evidence they point to to prove it.
I'm aware of the claim that KSM gave up the LA Tower plot, but I'm not aware of any other claims in particular to information that was instrumental in any way to US goals.
If anyone knows of any I would like to hear about it.
As I said, torture cannot be justified in any case, but knowing what your opponent knows, or thinks they know, would be very helpful for me.
