It’s not just that Tom Ridge won’t run for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania — he’s also refusing to declare his support for Pat Toomey should Toomey become the Republican nominee.
Asked by Chris Matthews whether he would support Toomey or Arlen Specter in a hypothetical general election matchup, Ridge wouldn’t say.

Transcript:
MATTHEWS: Who you voting for?
RIDGE: Well, I’m going to wait and see who’s in the primary.
MATTHEWS: No, if you had to vote between Toomey, the conservative Republican, or Specter, the ex-Republican, who would you vote for?
RIDGE: It’s a wonderful country, this America. It’s called a secret ballot.
MATTHEWS: Come on!
(LAUGHTER)
MATTHEWS: Aye or nay?
RIDGE: You got my answer, Chris! That’s hardball.
Ridge also said he thought Toomey would receive a primary challenge.
Update, 10:50AM -- sdf points out that Ridge has declared Maryland as his residence:
Ridge apparently now is a Maryland resident, then perhaps the answer is, "Well, um, neither!"
