Roy Moore makes it official, he's running for Alabama governor
Well, this should be amusing. St. Roy lost big in the primary in 2006, but don't count him out. It's looking like a crowded primary on the Republican side (there are already four other Republicans announced, and AG Troy King -- who is crazier than Moore -- is still undecided), and he could very easily finish first in a four- or five-way race with a core of 35 percent of the GOP made up of the same crazies who voted for him in 2006. Alabama is a runoff state, but weird things happen in runoffs, and it would be about getting out the vote.
And if he gets the nomination, he will probably win in the general. I hate to say it, but it takes special circumstances for a Democrat to win a statewide race in Alabama, and I don't think Moore being clearly insane is enough. If it were, King wouldn't have won against a more qualified candidate in 2006, and Moore would never have been elected to the state Supreme Court despite being manifestly underqualified.
BRIEFLY UPDATED to add that here's his website. No-prize to whoever can find the craziest thing on there. http://www.moore2010.com/...
