Signs are coming out of Iran that Moussavi and his supporters will not accept the stealing of this election as he according to the New York Times, encourages his supporters to take to the streets to denounce this sham that has been perpetrated on them.
"I am the absolute winner of the election by a very large margin," Mr. Moussavi said during a news conference with reporters just after 11 p.m. Friday, adding: "It is our duty to defend people’s votes. There is no turning back."
The article further states that the regime sent thousands of police to the protest areas and is unclear if the level of confrontation caused any injuries or fatalities. What is encouraging is that Moussavi is not backing down and and he and his supporters seems to be pressing ahead with calling out the regime for what it is, again accouding to the NY Times article;
I’m warning that I won’t surrender to this manipulation," he said, adding that the election outcome "is nothing but shaking the pillars of the Islamic Republic of Iran sacred system and governance of lie and dictatorship."
He warned "people won’t respect those who take power through fraud" and said the decision to declare Mr. Ahmadinejad the winner was a "treason to the votes of the people."
Over at Fox (Blech) they are reporting that the Obama administration is seriously doubting the results of the election but will not publicly denounce the election in the hopes that this sham election will undermine the regime there by making them more willing to respond to President Obama's overtures of dialog.
What is clear is that something has begun in Iran and we need to fully support this moment as the regime will no doubt respond with the most perverse violent retaliation causing many injuries and detentions. UPI is reporting "massive protest" reporting that;
Police with riot batons charged thousands of Mousavi supporters gathered in central Tehran Saturday, but it was unclear if there were serious injuries.
There are a few things we can do;
- First become a supporter of
Mousavi's facebook page and send his supporters comments of support in the comments section of his posts.
- Secondly repudiate any right wing gibberish acknowledging Ahmandinejad's victory or denouncing Iran without distinguishing the courageous acts of its people.
Update: Some Video coming out Iran;
Update:
-
Time is reporting that demostrators are chanting "Death to the Dictator"
The Mousavi supporters were pushed down the street several blocks, and into side streets. When the police retreated, they re-gathered, chanting "Death to the Dictator" and "Mousavi, We'll Protect You" and "Iran looks like Palestine" (the last, an apparent reference to the constant scenes of similarly dressed Israeli police dispersing Palestinian rock-throwers). No rocks were thrown, only a few plastic water bottles. Several dumpsters were overturned and set on fire.
- CNN is now reporting that crowds are setting fires and breaking into shops.
