We want you to fix the health care crisis because we know it's best for our health and our economy. And we need you to fix the financial sector and get the damn engines of commerce fired up again without poisoning where we live while you're at it. We've grown fond of our lungs and our trees.
It's not much to ask.
Another thing is this whole climate change issue. It's pretty fuckin big. We prolly oughta get to work on that one, too. You know, you could tie that in with the whole energy thing, too. Seems like two sides of the same problem. Solve the energy mess and you get the environment thrown in for free! What a frikkin bargain. Those only come around so often. Go for it.
And what about all the peeps who are outta work? We gotta goddamn find them something to do. Get 'em off the computer or the couch and put 'em to frikkin work. What's that? You don't know where to find work for all those poor couch potatoes? Well, figure it out, goddammit. We've done it before, we can do it again. Ever heard of the TVA or the CCC? Yeah, it worked. This ain't a goddamn "mental" recession. This one's real, dumbasses. It's real and people are hurting and getting angry. Be a good idea to work on that one, too.
As for the bankers and the brokers and the other fat cats who helped get us into this mess...we don't mind that they make millions. They can knock themselves out. Good for them. We just don't want those fuckers making millions on a bunch of worthless shit that 99 per cent of people don't even fucking understand. Get it? In other words, we want all of the financial transactions--whether they're between a customer and his bank or a banker and his stockholders, or even a little old lady and her credit card company--we want all those rules and procedures to be simple and transparent. Should be easy for them. If they can figure out how to make literally hundreds of trillions of dollars of fake money, surely they can find a way to make a few bucks of real money. Figure it the fuck out. We're waiting.
Energy, education, science, technology, infrastructure, living standard, accountability in government, constitutional transgressions, illegal torture and spying, and all the host of other problems that we face--problems we face in this country and all over the earth--all those, my dear Sirs and Madams need to be addressed and largely solved forthwith. If you don't quite feel the urgency, goddammit we DO.
