This will be short, but bears some attention and I noticed there are not any dairies here on the subject. But that inventive DOJ has come up with a new strategy to block anyone from finding out about Cheney-Bush malfeasance. And Jon Stewart would be so proud that he has made it to a case of such stature.
Have we really gone this far?
This is up at Huffington Post and was written up by Sarabeth at 1115.org. But the original is from an AP story.
The DOJ's new reason to deny a Federal judge from reviewing the notes taken by the FBI when Cheney was interviewed by them over the Valarie Plame/CIA leak investigation. The reason:
"If we become a fact-finder for political enemies, they aren't going to cooperate,"
Justice Department attorney Jeffrey Smith said during a 90-minute hearing.
"I don't want a future vice president to say, 'I'm not going to cooperate with you because I don't want to be fodder for 'The Daily Show.'"
Now, I am familiar with "priest-penitent", "lawyer-client", and "doctor-patient" privilege, but this starts to chart new legal ground. The "criminal-comic", or "traitor-buffon" privilege. Are we sure that there are not burrowed saboteurs still at the DOJ. The credibility is getting pretty strained.
Lars Thorwald, care to comment on this pleading?
