Life is a funny thing and noticing funny little things is what drives me nuts. As I look at Iran and how the media is handling Obama's handling of the current situation I LAUGH . Desperation for your voice to be heard has been ignored with venom in this country for some time, but we want Iran to be better than us ?
If you look at commentaries in 2000 , the bashing of Gregg Palast in 2004 or even the RNC in NYC you must wonder-Where was all this indignation HERE not all that long ago ? I was running from the cops in NYC because I was handing out A Perfect Circle video's ( Rhythm of the War Drums) to republicans and I didn't want to go to
"fence city".
I see a corporate voice being given merit in a healthcare 'debate' because another election is coming up and State Reps need funds as well as human rights being ignored because SOME people are creeped out. We are ignoring Afghanistan , China, Myanmar and a host of other real issues in favor of popular sentiment-and that is why we are in Iraq. This is my diary
NOTHING disappoints me more than the endless coverage of the death of a celebrity, and right now if you have watched television in the last 48 hours you may understand why. I knew a brave man who died of cancer and there are more than likely women who did the same thing.
LeRoy had cancer in his stomach from working with Petrochemicals and the company he worked for would force him to retire if that was discovered. His mariner's license was just renewed by the coast guard at the time, so he had 5 years before he 'had' to do anything. The layoff or forced retirement would have financially destroyed his younger wife and 2 kids. What did LeRoy do ? He worked until he died, 4 years later-a painful and miserable existence living on a boat 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off. The men he worked with complained about the blood on the toilet seat-but he still worked. Hey, we don't need healthcare reform-because people like LeRoy exist. People who will suck it up and just die instead of being removed from their provider. I am willing to bet you know someone or know of someone who did something very similar . But a woman from a bad television show who had her death documented died heroically ? Her husband is brave because he stayed until the end ! Yes, only famous people stay until the bitter end-my grand mother who waited on my grand father hand and foot until cancer took his life wasn't the same. She actually changed his diaper, fed him, stayed up and cried with him, watched a man she married when she was 17 die in front of her. Luckily Reynolds Steel at the time helped it's employees and allowed my grandfather to die in his home with his family with every imaginable comfort. (full Disclosure, I love Reynolds Steel because of how they treated my grandparents at the end and I mean that-companies aren't like that anymore and if I could help the family of the CEO who presided during the 80's I would in a second).
People like LeRoy and my grandmother are stories heard over and over again in this country, but because they get shit under their fingernails while being brave they are ignored. On the same day an accused child molester and a former beauty queen died , some little kids grandfather died. The guy was a veteran , the guy just worked every day, the guy was only a hero to his grandchildren -and in their grief all they can hear about is a guy who sang mindless songs and a woman who was famous for looking good.
When I cried the second time, it was real. I cried and I sobbed for a good 15 minutes. I considered fleeing my country. I considered many things, none of which I actually did. It was around 2345 or so, November 4th. Al Franken was a radio host that was shown on the Sundance Channel at night . I cried hard when John Kerry conceded . I was NEVER that vested in another human being I wasn't married to as a civilian, NEVER. I had an awesome job, the current appointed leader of this country pulled some shenanigans in New Mexico, Ohio and Florida again and we were warned about it 5 months earlier. I was spent. Seeing Al cry brought it all back, and when I considered how Jimmy Carter asked for UN oversight and was HUMILIATED because he REQUESTED JUSTICE was and still is APPALLING !!! Yes, Keith Olberman , the voice of the left NOW couldn't make fun of Carter enough THEN, but we have digressed.
Cut to now. That man who was originally appointed in 2000 by a Supreme Court that had 1 member (Antoine Fat Scolia) get a nephew a job started 2 wars, bought Tee Shirts for a convention in Myanmar and those are just the things I am talking about and they are just minimal in the crimes committed by the Bush Family Crime Syndicates Fredo .
People were arrested in NYC during the RNC, and that was ignored. Now, I am supposed to want an invasion of Iran or a sanction because of unfair elections ? WHAT ABOUT WHEN IT HAPPENED HERE ! I won't go into how BLATANTLY Bush stole 2004 , I will just suggest you read Armed Madhouse by Gregg Palast and if you disagree with the investigation I am more than willing to talk and be wrong.
The religious right holds elections and human rights hostage here, but because a man is not Christian I am supposed to question the value of his leadership ? Because a man isn't the same as me he can not be recognized by the rest of the world as married because it creeps some people out ? And , what was that that Jesus said?
"Pull the plank from your own eye first"
Obama goes to church-has he never heard that parable ?
I will not be fooled by MSNBC, Fox , CNN or any other CORPORATE propaganda outlet into believing Iran must be dealt with harshly until we have dealt with our own stolen elections, corporate running of this country and human rights violations. SORRY GE, I will not be silent so you can make billions more on yet another war. MSNBC is liberal, what a bunch of morons who believe that. They attack Rush Limabugh-YES, AND THEY PAY THEIR 'JOURNALISTS' with WAR PROFITS !
I could go into Myanmar, I could go into Chevron and I could go into many things , but life calls. Life is funny. Just when I think I can finish my coffee and go to work this Sunday Morning my son is crying wanting his diaper changed . I wish I could afford a nanny, then maybe some media outlet could tell the world what a great father I am. I guess not though, my wife and I have to actually take care of him, we suck.
Enjoy your day. And think. Question the Status Quo. If you have the time and it is easy enough, turn off MSNBC for a day and get your news SOLELY from Democracy Now. You may be amazed at what actual news is.
