Just when I was preparing myself into accepting the fact that the uprising in Iran is doomed to be silenced, as it usually is the case for nations that are ruled by bloody tyrants, suddenly, a voice, naw, two defiant voices rised out of the cyberspace, singing loud for the voiceless of Iran: "Darling Stand by Me." Jon Bon Jovi & Iranian superstar Andy Madadian & Richie Sambora and friends, apparently, walked into a studio in LA on June 24th and came out singing both in Farsi and English for the people of Iran. They are taking the flag from the now silenced rooftop "Allaho Akbar" singers, extending their voices to the farthest corners of the earth: "Stand by Me"
Stand by Me, Jovi, Madadian
Warning: Get some tissue before tuning into this video, for it is humanely impossible to hold back one's tears when listening/watching it. The languages and the faces of East and West, singing together, "Stand by Me," is almost surreal, and the beauty of its sentiment is awe inspiring. In a world, scarred by thousands of years of wars and bloodshed and human cruelty, this amazing video has the effect of a healing balm. Spread it around as best as you can.
ps# I read some chatter on wearing of green or tying ribbons of green on fourth of July as a sign of solidarity with the Iranian protesters. Just to let ye know.
