It is all the tortured, the dead people, and the injured soldiers that are ignored by an American public that is not outraged at Bush. It is the wiretapped, the dissapeared, the stop lossed, the jobless, the homeless, the sonless and daughterless here and abroad, the sick and the dead, the ignorant, and the environment. All these Have Bush fatigue far greater than Jeb or the Republic Party.
We all had fatigue and elected Barak. Was this in any way enough to right the wrong that is George Walker Bush? I think not. Things still move slowly, we still wait, we still are fatigued. When is Bush, when is Cheney, when are their henchmen going to be made aware that justice and morality eventually stand at the bright light of the noonday sun, and sometimes play a game of chess, and sometimes use that scythe?
Below the fold.
I respect American Justice and understand it has slow wheels. The exactitude of the American justice system is beautiful. Holder let the Alaskan Corrupt Old Bastards bunch off the hook because the Bush Justice department played the game wrong. Holder did the right thing.
Bush And Cheney deserve the Pinochet treatment until the day they die. Or maybe the Salinas de Gotari, or the Fujimori treatment. I don't advocate the Somoza job or the Franco finish, but they did get what they richly deserved.
I also respect the Romanian People when THEY decided to make a change and seek swift justice on the head of Ceaucescu. Romania is not an uncivilized nation. But they decided that they had had enough. I respect the Italian People when they realized that they had been duped by Mussolini and played that B sharp string. I respect the Venezuelan People when they got tired of being ripped off of their national treasure. I respect the Bolivan people when they got fed up with a hundred crappy, non-indigenous presidents in a row. Peru now needs a little of the same justice.
I respect the Iranian people when they decided that THEY wanted to pick a leader and not use the one the Americans gave them. I respect the French people for bringing a swift and sharply heavy end to serfdom and corrupt royalty, and for their sending the man of for an island vacation, not once, but twice. I respect the Mexican people for ousting colonial power, conquering emperors and home-grown dictators. I respect the Poles and the Czechs and the Ukrainians and the former Yugoslavs all. I even have a begrudging respect for the Germans for the inward reflection and reform they have made since the war. When will we become a nation that is loathe to use our power? Can't see it any time soon.
We made on righteous attempt at overthrowing colonial power and one misguided attempt to keep enslaved our fellow Americans. We have killed our First Nation People, (to borrow from Canada). And we have spent much of our vast resources oppressing the rest of the world. Only a very few times have we justifiably taken other governments out of power by force. The majority of our military excursions have been taken against the interests of the American people and the world community.
The American People are vastly patient. Only a very few times have we felt the need to yield the terrible swift sword on ourselves, and I have mixed feelings about letting this one pass.
I still have Bush fatigue. We all should. And a damn large dry bitter helping of it stuck right down our throats. When will WE take a drink of the sweet nectar of Justice? It can't come too soon.
