I stumbled across this article this morning. I noticed there was no mention of yet on the site so I figured it would be useful for some. This seems Air Force Lt. Colonel Victor Fehrenbach's meeting with President Obama may have convinced Obama to ask Gates if there was a way to side-step the DADT policy.

It seems that Obama is trying to make good on his promises. Im not exactly how this selective enforcement will work. It looks to me like Gates is attempting to protect gays in the military who were exosed by others rather than themselves. Granted there is more work to do, but atleast those gays who had tried their hardest to abide by the policy and got ousted because of another person will have a better chance at witholding their jobs. This isn't a win, the way I see it, the administration is trying to protect those who got screwed over by another individual.
