Even when GOP pols get caught with their proverbial pants down, GOP party "leadership" (such as it is these days) doesn't hold their own accountable.
In the last few days, there have been two examples of GOP reluctance to purge hypocrasy, possible corruption, and dereliction of duty from their ranks.
Exhibit A: Sen. Ensign's fellow Christian conservative colleague, Sen. Coburn (R-OK), claims that his advice to Ensign to pay hush money to his mistress is "privileged." That is, Sen Coburn, hiding behind both physician and pastoral robes, refuses to speak on the record about his possible encouragement of corruption -- even if called by a Senate Ethics investigation.

Exhibit B: South Carolina GOP leadership does not call for Gov. Sanford to step down, even though the majority of South Carolinians want their governor to step aside, given his dereliction of duty while "hiking the Appalachain trail" in Argentina.

I eagerly await to see the results of tomorrow's Young Republican Federation election, where the leading candidate is Audra Shay -- she of the latest GOP intertoobz racism eruption.

When will somebody in the GOP start acting like a grown up? That is, when will a bona fide leader emerge from the GOP ranks? But in the meantime, the MSM needs to ask questions, and left blogosphere needs to push a meme: the GOP is floundering and leaderless because no one, not even their own, holds them accountable
