1866 - Authorization was given to build a tunnel beneath the Chicago River. The three-year project cost $512,709.
1960 - Francis Gary Powers pled guilty to spying charges in a Moscow court after his U-2 spy plane was shot down over the Soviet Union.
COINCIDENCE? I think NOT!

Where the HELL is the follow up?
Rupert (the Snake) Murdoch had his newspapers illegally tap cell phone and text communications of political leaders, royalty, and actors and actresses. His papers got caught. Apparently thousands of communications were illegally intercepted.
And Murdoch's competitors' response?
Yawn.

b) Chip Pickering (R-Scum)
Ultraconservative christian, politician, ordained son and legatee of a wealthy, powerful conservative cult, adulterer and now, lobbyist. Oh, yes, a necessary party in litigation, too.
Yet another member of that secretive C Street christian cabal in DC, and yet another adulterer (What DO they teach in that building, anyway?) Pickering, son of Charles Pickering, was the most conservative member of congress, until his wife caught him in flagrante delicto.
Pickering's wife just named him (and his sex partner) in an alienation of affections law suit.
For those who do not know Pickering's history, he is violently anti-evolution, he hates gays, and he wants christianity to replace the constitution. Except for that bit about coveting thy neighbor's wife, I guess.
He cast himself as a defender of decency, particularly on television and the Internet, and was among House members urging then-President George W. Bush to declare 2008 "the National Year of the Bible."
Another lawmaker who lived at the C Street house, Ensign, a member of the Christian ministry Promise Keepers, stepped down from the Senate Republican leadership in June after admitting he had an affair for much of last year with a woman on his campaign staff.
and now he works for his fuck partner's daddy? as a lobbyist? Well, whoring around seems to come naturally to Pickering.

c) Strange criminal behavior
A man insisted on being arrested after he walked into a western North Carolina bank while on the phone with a 911 operator to report that he planned to commit a robbery. The Asheville Citizen-Times reported the man insisted on being arrested after an officer walked in behind him Wednesday at the Wachovia bank branch in Waynesville.
The man told the operator he wasn't armed and had a robbery note.
Detective Ryan Singleton said the man had quit his job as a sandwich maker and given his possessions to a roommate before going to the bank

d) Senator Tom Coburn (R - Hippo critter)
[quote]Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) will not cooperate with investigators who investigate Sen. John Ensign’s extramarital affair with the wife of a former top aide—even with the Senate’s own Ethics Committee.
Coburn told Roll Call: “I was counseling him as a physician and as an ordained deacon. That is a privileged communication that I will never reveal to anybody. Not to the (Senate) Ethics Committee, not to a court of law, not to anybody.”
