Mr. President, you are the elected "leader of the free world." But why are you not leading? Why is Europe, the continent we freed of fascism and communism, exemplified by this?
The European Union was preparing Wednesday to debate a British request to pull ambassadors of all 27 EU nations from Iran in protest over the detention of Iranian staff at the British Embassy in Tehran.
The detentions last week cranked up Iran's standoff with the West over its bloody crackdown on opposition protesters who disputed the results of last month's presidential election.
In a further sign of deteriorating ties, Iran said Wednesday the EU had disqualified itself from talks over Tehran's nuclear program because of its "interference" in the post-election unrest. Iran accuses the EU of supporting the anti-government rallies.
The EU "has totally lost the competence and qualifications needed for holding any kind of talks with Iran," Iran's chief of staff, Gen. Hasan Firouzabadi, was quoted as saying by the semi-official Fars News Agency.
And also, how is Germany, which never freed anyone, also taking a harder stance than you? They were, self-induced after Nazism lost, the foremost victims of communism, and Angela Merkel, knowing what slavery is like, is calling out the Islamist dictatorship harder than you are, as they are very similar?
German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday likened events in Iran to the oppression at the hands of the Stasi secret police in communist East Germany, where she grew up.
"I know from the time of the GDR (East Germany) how important it was that people around the world made sure that the people stuck in (Stasi prisons) Bautzen and Hohenschoenhausen ... were not forgotten," Merkel told parliament.
Now I am not a neo-con. I am happy we haven't invaded and occupied Iran. I know, Mr. President, you don't want to be seen as "interfering with Iran just like in 1953," but Mr. President, if you took the lead, you'd show the Iranian people that unlike 1953, we are on the DEMOCRATIC side! This would have been your biggest chance to stand up to Radical Islam, as Iran is what an Islamist state looks like, and they aren't even the worst in history, compared to the Taliban or Hamastan! Mr. President, you talked "change." Sure, we don't want to invade countries like Iraq under Bush, but "change" shouldn't mean changing what America stands for! This would be the time to show America IS right, and that we mean our values!
I also know you don't want to "inflame" anti-American sentiment. But its already there, as many people are already indoctrinated by hate preachers in the forms of radical imams and politicians. They're not going away no matter what. If you stand up to them and people like the Ayatollah and Ahmadinejad, you'll give strength to the moderate ME voices, which is the way to counter the hardliners. Shutting up and thinking "maybe we'll make the radicals hate us less" is not an option. It is time to stand up, Mr. President. No one is asking you to invade Iran. But take a harder stance. Call out the Ayatollah by his name. Call out the ideology which they preach. Mr. President, you are supposed to lead the free world, not be led by other members, who really don't have much qualification for it. We didn't interfere in the election, and we're being accused of it anyway by the mullah thugs. Mr. President, its time to lead.
UPDATE: HILLARY even urged Obama to take a tougher stand on Iran!
