Yesterday, the Ohio Democratic Party launched RobertPortman.com, a parody of RobPortman.com, the official campaign website for the architect of the Bush economy.
As the Cincinnati Enquirer's Howard Wilkinson reported yesterday, the Ohio Democratic Party's RobertPortman.com "has the same look and typeface as Portman's official campaign website."
Rob "Robby Bobby" Portman was apparently not too happy with the Ohio Democratic Party's new website, because he responded by giving RobPortman.com got a complete overnight facelift. This morning, the embarrassed GOP-er’s site boasted a new color scheme and layout with little content from the old site remaining.
Today's events brought this statement from ODP Communications Director Seth Bringman:
I'm honored that we could make the architect of the Bush economy become the architect of a new website. Rob Portman was clearly so moved by our parody website that he decided to create a completely new one of his own. We're happy to keep him busy.
ODP’s site, RobertPortman.com, was released yesterday with complete up-to-date news, multimedia and biographical information about the Republican U.S. Senate candidate.
Buckeye State Blog’s David Potts praised RobertPortman.com for:
fill[ing] in some the little details that Robert Portman would prefer that voters not know about him, like the time he crashed the economy or when he took your tax money for his restaurant when you weren't looking
Portman cowered behind his new media team to remove any parallel between the two sites hoping nobody would notice. Sorry Robert.
The architect of the Bush economy's new website also omits any reference to George W. Bush. Here's what ThinkProgress had to say about that:
For a politician who served in President Bush’s cabinet and who spent “his entire career in the orbit of the Bush family,” it’s a notable omission. In 2005, Portman gave up his congressional seat to serve as Bush’s U.S. Trade Representative and, later, as Office of Management and Budget Director. The AP wrote of Portman: “For an administration that cherishes loyalty, it’s difficult to find a more faithful supporter [of President Bush] than Rob Portman.”
Portman can run and he can put his web team to work, but he can't hide from his record destroying the U.S. economy.
