I've been of the opinion a year ago that blogging was a great way to express anger and frustration, but that it did nothing unless coupled with on the street action.
So, how's this blogging stuff working out? I see Congress isn't paying a lot of attention, since, in the case of health care, we see Congress fighting national opinion, in favor of Big Health Care, and Obama seems to be going along. I see that Fox News, Limbaugh, and Blue Dogs and the GOP seem to be in control of the national agenda for health care and other issues. I don't see American's in the streets, but I read tons of blogs and 'comments' on various web sites. Seems that people think that blogging and sending emails = action. Easy to sit at the keyboard, hard to actually do something.
In the 70's we got into the streets and: ended Vietnam, helped ensure civil rights, and got to having our government fearing us rather than we fearing out government.
What has blogging accomplished? Not much. It's a great energy and anger absorber, but not much else, except making blog sites money. Punch a pillow, vs. actually do something real.
Good luck with this. If I were a GOP or DHS/CIA operative, I'd love blogging because bloggers self-identify AND accomplish nothing but give input to the strategists on the other side. Blog, and then watch TV. Perfect.
