Gary Hart warned Condi Rice on Sept. 6, 2001, about the threat of terrorism to the United States. He'd actually being saying a long time that "The terrorists are coming, the terrorists are coming." It is detailed in
this Salon Interview.
Why isn't this getting more media play? Or dailyKos play? Searching "hart rice" on news.google.com shows that this is apparently not being mentioned by any of the major US papers. It is in a couple of smaller papers like the Minnesota Tribune. On dKos, the Salon story was mentioned in a couple of comments and a diary entry which garnered no comments.
If we're hoping the Aug 6 briefing takes off, wouldn't it be better if it were paired with Sept 6, too?
From the Salon article:
Hart was co-chair (with former Sen. Warren Rudman, R-N.H.) of the U.S. Commission on National Security, a bipartisan panel that conducted the most thorough investigation of U.S. security challenges since World War II. After completing the report, which warned that a devastating terrorist attack on America was imminent and called for the immediate creation of a Cabinet-level national security agency, and delivering it to President Bush on January 31, 2001, Hart and Rudman personally briefed Rice, Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Colin Powell. But, according to Hart, the Bush administration never followed up on the commission's urgent recommendations, even after he repeated them in a private White House meeting with Rice just days before 9/11.
I'm guessing that this isn't news to some of you. But still, why hasn't this been getting more play?
