I just sent out this email to my online supporters, and wanted to make sure the DailyKos community saw it too. Please visit our new website and get involved.
Friends –
Earlier today, I filed paperwork forming an exploratory committee. This is the first step toward a campaign for U.S. Congress.
This decision came after many conversations with my wife, Barb, and my two children, and after hearing from friends and supporters from across our community
I'm touching base with you today because we make a good team. In the past few months, our online community has helped convince the Legislature make state government more transparent, increase access to affordable healthcare, and pass legislation that will create jobs and strengthen our economy. But as you know, there is plenty of work left to do.
As always, I'm counting on you as we take the next step in our efforts. We've just launched a new website - click here to visit it:

I started the exploratory committee because our district needs independent, effective representation in Washington. Regardless of the issue - making healthcare affordable, jumpstarting the economy, simplifying the tax code, reducing the deficit - the metro area needs a congressman who puts partisanship aside to get things done.
As a member of Nebraska's unicameral, nonpartisan Legislature, I've done just that. I've partnered with senators from both parties to create jobs, cut taxes for the middle class, increase access to affordable healthcare, and reduce government waste. To me, it doesn't matter if it's a Democratic idea or a Republican idea. What matters is whether it's a good idea, one that will create jobs and strengthen the economy. That basic principle is needed in Congress now more than ever.
I have always been able to count on your support in the past. Please visit our new website to get involved and make a contribution:

Also, I hope you send me your comments and thoughts. You're an important part of this effort, and I look forward to continuing to work with you as our campaign takes the next step.
Thanks for all you do,
Tom White
