It's been a rough week for Cincinnati Enquirer columnist and wingnut hack Peter Bronson.
First, his blog entry about a local anti-transit ballot initiative (sponsored by the same teabag-waving wingnuts who amended the city charter to deny even basic civil rights to LGBT people -- a measure that has since been repealed) comes under fire for its manifold lies and misrepresentations, which becomes "Exhibit A" of the Enquirer's consistently slanted coverage of the entire issue.
Well earlier in the week I responded to what I considered a column that used reckless disregard for the truth regarding the streetcar proposal. I sent an email to Mr. Peter Bronson and pointed out what I found to be intentionally false and asked him to adhere to Gannett’s (owner of Cincinnati Enquirer) stated Code of Ethics when it comes to writing columns. His response was rather callous and it was obvious that I struck a chord.
Then, in another blog entry, he posts a fake photo of Al Franken in diapers, seemingly believing it's real. This puts Bronson in the national spotlight, and not in a good way.
Bronson then removes the photo, and issues a lame half-apology.
Today, finally, Bronson joins the ranks of the unemployed as the Gannett-owned Enquirer bleeds more jobs.
I got the bad news today.
The Enquirer is making deep and painful job cuts, and this time my name made the list, along with many other fine Enquirer employees.
I feel bad for the real journalists who have lost their jobs, including a close friend of mine who was recently let go from the Chicago Tribune after 16 years of loyal service. But you'll have to forgive me for not shedding any tears over Bronson's departure from the Enquirer.
Sometimes karma's a real bitch.
