Might as well give up, Kossacks, game's over. Just six short months ago, you foolishly thought that your friends and neighbors were so thoroughly nauseated by the Bush/Cheney debacle that they had turned a new leaf - a decidedly blue leaf. You exulted in the numerous polls that proclaimed the popularity of the President-elect. Well, the American public ain't nuthin if it ain't fickle. Just check out Scott Rasmussen's latest scientifically conducted unbiased poll results, and you'll bear witness to the indisputable proof that Obama has made such a royal mess of things that the majority of Americans once again yearn to be ruled by the Party of No.
First, you must accept, however reluctantly, the fact that Obama is an unpopular president; as of today
30% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-eight percent (38%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of –8.
Next, when you looked at last November's election results, did you think that Dems had presented more cogent and, ultimately, more popular arguments? Forget it, when it comes to the issues, the pachyderm is back:
Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on eight out of 10 key electoral issues, including, for the second straight month, the top issue of the economy.
Finally, is your district represented by a Democrat? He or she is in lame duck territory, for sure:
Republican candidates lead Democrats for the second straight week in the latest edition of the Generic Congressional Ballot.
I've been following Rasmussen's polls for some time now, and am confident that these polls are well designed to make a statement intended to promote what's right in this great country. I have no idea where those lefties at Real Clear Politics get their funny numbers from (oh, it's just Gallup, Quinnipiac and CNN/Opinion Research). Maybe those guys just want to make Obama look good so they can keep their Time Magazine (a/k/a liberal mainstream media) contract.
