Is it possible Obama is putting off the rescinding of Don't Ask Don't Tell until AFTER healthcare reform is passed because he wants to wait until after he's affected a tremendous and essential positive change to the country before he takes on the relatively minor (compared to the health care situation) injustice that will cause a big controversy and lose him a few points in the polls? That he's not forgetting his campaign promises, but realizing if he tries to do everything at once he might end up getting nothing done, so he needs to postpone one issue so it can be dealth with without seeming like a distraction from something more important? Am I naive to still suspect the man of a reasonable or balanced altruistic/pragmatic thought process like that, despite how he's PROVEN himself to be a secret Kenyan godless Russian communist muslim racist nazi homosexual space-alien antichrist smoker glue-sniffer murderer furry gas-huffing abortionist dog-hating catperson orphan/super-orphan community-organizing community-theater-enthusiast womanizer butt-looker serial-killing guitar-hero and all?
Maybe. I suppose we'll have to wait for the documents. Why won't he release the documents proving he's not a superorphan space-alien? Ball's in your court, "Barry".
Does anyone remember 8 years ago when people were saying how glad they were that Bush was in office, not Gore, because Gore would never have had the USAiyan balls to go ahead and invade Afghanistan like we as a country Needed To? Can you imagine what Al Gore might have done with that 90% or whatever approval rate mandate? Or maybe the Republicans would have refused to get behind him and they would have torn the country apart blaming liberals for the attack, and it's only democrats who are willing to take a chance on trusting the other side?
I mean, heck, the whole "this administration will attempt to do away with Politics As Usual" was a Democrat line, the Republicans only stole it when they noticed it was working. It was never a principle that stood out before. But really, that's been the G.O.P. M.O. for as long as I can remember anyways; there's no such thing as deeply held convictions and beliefs, you appease your corporate sponsors with whatever lies work at the time, regardless of what you said 2 weeks ago, and you appease your base on Abortion, Gay Marriage, and Gun Control.
Can you imagine if the oil companies suddenly found that Atheism was hugely profitable? Half the G.O.P. screaming that there is no God and O'Reilly calling believers Pinheads.
I've already called my congressman about healthcare, and I've got a pretty good one so I don't have to worry, but I think I'll call him again. I want him to know that I voted for him once, and if he pushes the public option hard I will vote for him again No Matter What. I'm calling again tomorrow and I'm telling him that if he pushes it I don't care if he gets caught in bed high on PCP writing a loveletter to Bin Laden in the blood of the dead hooker that's laying across his lap, I'm still voting for him. I wonder if they'll have a machine on Saturday instead of a person like usual.
I've been reading the forums at masscops (forums for Massachusetts Cops) http://www.masscops.com/... and the nationwide officer.com forums http://forums.officer.com/... just to get an idea about what police think about things. I didn't really believe the anti-Obama stuff had anything to do with race until I read those forums. They make the connection almost palpable. And I mean, hey, it goes with those polls. If there's any group of people who, along with old white southerners, can generally be recognized as racists it's most certainly Republican Cops. Officer.com has an Officers Only forum, and after the Gates incident, ONE OFFICER suggested that it wasn't such a good idea to arbitrarily side with another police officer regardless of the circumstances, and the rest more or less accused him of treason. The "teachable moment" idea, the incredibly good idea that maybe cops and the groups of minorities they seem to have so much trouble effectively policing should get together in a discussion about why the groups seem to have so much trouble with each other in a way that prevents the police from doing their jobs and makes people of all races distrust cops, well that was entirely ignored. The general opinion was black and white, White Cop Right Black Guy Wrong and he should have been prosecuted too. How dare you yell at a cop.
Everyone at Fox News still thinks Bush the Former Alcoholic would still be a great guy to have a beer with, but when Obama actually HAD a beer with someone it was a big complaint about his UnAmerican Socialist Terrorist Secretly Muslim choice of the reportedly Kenyan Beer, Bud Light. I'm starting to think Fox isn't actually fair and balanced. Do they still use that?
