Edit: I changed the title of the diary from "A Tea Party for the rest of us" to "Another protest scheduled" because it seems some believe that Liberals only get one chance to protest. Thank God that we didn't believe that in the 60's. Imagine if MLK, Jr., gave his "I have a dream"
speech and then never spoke out again. Sheesh. I've never heard of liberals protesting against protesting. How things have changed.

Now it's our turn to have a Tea Party!
I just got an email from a friend who is performing at a concert against greed in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, September 6, 2009, at 2 p.m. He said to pass the word. The rally will be against greed, and that would include health care reform, war, bailouts for banks and Wall Street, etc.
Here is the press release he sent:
"BALANCE THE BUCKS": FREE CONCERT SUNDAY, SEPT. 6
A RALLY AGAINST GREED SLATED FOR WASHINGTON MONUMENT
A task force of folksingers will perform a free concert at the Washington Monument Sunday, September 6 at 2:00 pm. More than two dozen artists are slated for the four-hour program, titled "Balance The Bucks," including several national and award-winning musicians.
Led by Portland, Oregon’s Delmark Goldfarb, a disabled Marine Corps veteran, the concert is a major effort to rally awareness of the issues relating to the effects of greed and economic disparity. In words and song, the group of activist-artists will present original works and traditionally relevant protest tunes.
Seeking to continue the precedent of the Bonus Marchers of 1932 and the Resurrection City of 1968, the folksingers will take to the stage at the Washington Monument’s Sylvan Theater in order to voice the concerns of common people no longer heard or represented in government circles.
"I expect to punch a hole in the cloud of money influence which soothes and smothers the Capitol," said Goldfarb. "Even if it’s just for one day." The event involves no corporate sponsorship and is presented solely by the artists themselves.
Among the artists slated for the microphone are Marc Black of Woodstock, New York, who was named this year’s "Folk Artist of the Year" on ABC Radio’s "Fame Games," and Angela Taylor of Baltimore who has earned the city’s "Best Female Vocalist" award and whose CD was chosen the "Best Regional Album" by Music Monthly.
Goldfarb’s own song "Portable Man," a tune relating to homelessness, has gained international airplay and has been included on a compilation CD "Give Us Your Poor" which features works by others such as Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt and Keb’ Mo’.
This united effort of consciousness-raising hopes to inspire others to get out and do what they can to return the nation to a functioning democracy wherein laws and legislation are created to reflect the needs and interests of the citizens.
Baltimore’s Lea Jones explained up his reason for joining the concert’s line-up:
"The American people may one day realize that ‘success’ is not predicated upon how we look, what we own, nor where we live," said Jones. "Until then, we’ll be raw meat for the capitalists."

Here is a write up from Huffington Post:
In another arena of our national recovery, a man I've come to know a bit is a blues musician named Delmark Goldfarb from Portland, Oregon. Mr. Goldfarb, who describes himself as an old-school Pete Seeger-meets-Saul Alinsky with a dollop of Tom Waits, left on a tour on August 5 and, along the way, he's producing a concert titled "Balance the Bucks" on the fly. "Balance the Bucks" is a rally against greed.
The free concert will be presented at the Sylvan Amphitheater (adjacent to the Washington Monument) on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. at 2 pm Sunday, September 6. The "sing-out" will feature artists from across the country and will comprise a line-up of original tunes focusing on issues such as economic justice, redistribution of wealth, salary disparity, bailouts, foreclosures and the general impact of rampant greed.

If anyone has any information on how this group can contact speakers and media (C-SPAN maybe), please contact the organizers.
I'll be there for sure.
