By now we've all heard that Teabaggers are planning to disrupt town halls, like the article here describes.
I've been mulling all day on how this can be effectively counteracted without any violence. I'm taking my cue from kindergarten teachers. Divide and conquer. My solution is that the moderator should do the following whenever people pop up and shout:
- Stop the discussion and
- Compel every 5th person to move 10 seats to their left. If you are past the end of your row, go to the next row back. Back row goes forward.
- If it happens again, every 6th person has to move right 12 seats and forward.
- Again, and every 7th person has to move left 14 and forward.
- etc.
The idea is to move people from their supporting friends. If they don't have that support, they may be less likely to misbehave. Additionally, the people who are serious will get real tired of the delay and glare at the offenders until they behave.
We must add civility back to town hall. We cannot let brute rudeness rule!
