In the health care debate, Dems talk about health care that will keep insurers from denying coverage, health care you'll keep even if you change jobs, and health care that will cover pre-existing conditions.
But what I don't understand: Without a public option, can't the insurers just pass along the costs of insuring everyone (and the rest of it) to the public? So if health care premiums are going up 10% a year now, when they insure everyone and can't deny coverage for pre-existing, won't they just raise premiums by, say, 20% a year?
So what's the point?
Without a public option, it's a joke, isn't it?
