The Tea Bagging Health Care Brigade has truly gone off the rails, off their rockers, and off the deep end. If this is the grassroots, the grass is on fire and the roots have been poisoned by something Monsanto wouldn’t even have the balls to market. This is truly toxic waste level material.
This is, dare I say: Crazyism.
Yes, that’s right, Crazyism has seeped into our great nation and it's spreading it's horrible wings of Crazy over town halls and auditoriums all over our land. Crazyism is infecting the minds of hundreds, if not tens of hundreds of our fellow citizens and who knows where it might lead. And Crazyism’s attack on calm, democratic debate—in which facts and the truth actually matter—is being led and organized by leading members of the Craziest Party of America. (Formerly the Republican Party).
And the only answer for saving America from the Scourge of Crazyism is a House Uber-Crazy-American Committee.
I mean, you’ve heard Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh warning about the slippery slope we’re on. One minute Obama’s talking about raising the marginal tax rate 3% on the highest earners, the next he’ll be telling your children which collective farm to work on. It’s a obviously a short leap from a discussion of a public insurance option and the imposition of mass euthanasia for all grandmothers living in Red States who are unable to convince a "death panel" staffed by ACORN operatives that they should be allowed to live.
Sure, Obama sounds reasonable when he talks about needing to tame costs in a sector of the economy that consumes 1 out of every 7 dollars and is currently run by a greedy, for-profit industry that thrives on avoiding paying for its obligations, but Hitler sounded soothing and reasonable when he gave big speeches, too.
Because really, what’s the difference between: (1) the systematic, mass extermination of an entire people, brought about through a concerted, decades-long effort to dehumanize those people through discriminatory laws, and appeals for "racial purity," all enforced by a terrifying jack-booted secret police force, and (2) the sober, relatively moderate policy debate Obama initiated with the freely elected Congress in part to figure out how to insure 50 million Americans who currently don’t enjoy "the greatest health care system in the world."
This kind of insanity isn’t happening by accident, my fellow citizens. No, it’s a coordinated effort by a Cabal of Batshit Crazy Leaders. And these irresponsible leaders cannot be allowed to avoid punishment for the criminal kind of Crazy they’ve unleashed in our country. The kind of crazy Andrew Sullivan noted is based in pure panic and unfounded fear. The kind of crazy that has people zealously defending that sacred relationship between a patient, the nine walls of flaming hell the insurance companies erect, and that patient’s doctor. The kind of crazy that has a "leading contender for the Republican nomination in 2012" suggesting that Obama wants to kill her Down-Syndrome baby. The kind of crazy that leads to people suggesting that anyone disagreeing with their kind of crazy deserves to be shot.
The kind of crazy, in short, that has a bunch of people equating moderate health care reform to the imminent arrival of the SS to ship everyone off to death camps. A more tell-tale sign of the creeping tentacles of Crazyism, you’ll never find.
After Congress reconvenes in the fall Nancy Pelosi needs to convene a House Uber-CrazyAmerican Committee immediately. We need someone to stand up and demand that the leaders of the Craziest Movement be held to account. I can already see the penultimate moment:
PELOSI: Mr. Limbaugh, Mr. Beck, and Ms. Palin, are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Craziest Party of America?
