Last nights Bill Maher show on HBO was a bit of a let down. He had two Congressmen on as his guests, one from Georgia and the other from California. And rather than being fired up and prepared for their normal Republican repetition of corporate drivel, he pretty much let them have the bully pulpit.
Mr. Maher has sparred with a wide range of politicians on his show, and generally he is able to skewer them pretty well on their talking points. But this time he kind of sat back and let them run with the ball. And then, in a discussion with Ariana Huffington, he ended a very good discussion about the use of prescription drugs with a little trip down his holistic medicine fantasy land. He has commented on his passion for natural medicine a number of times in the media. Everybody has their own opinion on this subject, but to continue to insist that holistic medicine will cure everything that ails you is going down that same stupid path that Mr. Maher accuses everybody else of trodding. I will continue to watch his show, but am hoping he grows a set next time he has some of these carefully groomed corporate shills on his show.
