Right now, Dubya has endorsed the thing. Congress says they aren't ready, they haven't decided on the real wording yet.
This will give him and Rove time to whip up anti-gay hysteria in a horrific frenzy over the next few months.
Then by August or September, Congress will vote on this amendment. The public will still believe, thanks to the lying media, that this only bans marriage. If the Dems vote to block it, they will be slammed in the press and in nasty attack ads. They will then lose in November, because the public support for an amendment will be huge by then.
Is this long and "oops is it too soon, are we ready" crap from the GOP really a master plan to make sure that this bans everything, gets rid of a bunch of Democrats, and passes with a supermajority by spring 2005?
That's what I'm thinking.
BTW, Teresa Heinz Kerry seems to support same-sex marriage.
