The current system sucks. Co-ops suck. So yay, Public Option, right?
From what little I've seen, I don't think it's all that great. I'm all for single payer. If that's what we were fighting for, then I'd be out on the streets. But is the Public Option really all that great?
Can poor people really afford it? Won't they be pissed off if the government forces them to pay something that leaves them even poorer than they are before? Sure, it's more economical in the long run to have health insurance than not, but will poor people really see it that way?
Maybe it would be better not to have any major change than to have the Public Option. 900 billion to a trillion dollars really ain't that much money, especially when you consider what we've blown on Iraq and Afghanistan, banks, drug plans for drug companies, etc.
How much would single payer cost? 2-5 Trillion? Seems like a good deal to me.
I remember being kind of skeptical of Obama's plan during the primaries. I guess I'm still skeptical.
