Yesterday on his show O'Reilly was desperately attempting to backtrack from his statements last week (Sept. 16th) supporting the public option, and which have since been used by those on the side of reason and sanity to expose his hypocrisy. In the process, he managed to prove himself a liar in a most peculiar and obvious fashion. Billo...you're BUSTED! More below the fold...
UPDATED with Transcript BELOW
This'll be a short diary. I don't want to waste too many brain cells on Bill O'Reilly and have far better things to do with my time. Like scrubbing my toilet.
This one's just for the record. My apologies if it's already been covered.
O'Reilly's original statement...from DailyKosTV:
Now let's look at the clip he used on yesterday's show, with O'Reilly trying to prove his point that the internet is a "safe haven for liars":
Notice anything missing?
Bernard Goldberg caught it, and to his credit put O'Reilly in front of the headlights like a terrified deer.
The big question remains...did even a serial liar like O'Reilly think nobody would notice when he switched the clip? Is he really THAT stoopid?

UPDATE: I notice that some of our friends are complaining about the short diary and inability to see the videos, so for their benefit I've set scrubbing my toilets aside for a moment to present a transcript. Hope it's helpful:
The original O'Reilly statement on September 16th:
O’REILLY: The public option now is done. We discussed this, it’s not going to happen. But you say that this little marketplace that they’re going to set up, whereby the federal government would subsidize insurance for some Americans, that is, in your opinion, a public option?
OWCHARENKO: Well, it has massive new federal regulation. So you don’t necessarily need a public option if the federal government is going to control and regulate the type of health insurance that Americans can buy.
O’REILLY: But you know, I want that, Ms. Owcharenko. I want that. I want, not for personally for me, but for working Americans, to have a option, that if they don’t like their health insurance, if it’s too expensive, they can’t afford it, if the government can cobble together a cheaper insurance policy that gives the same benefits, I see that as a plus for the folks.
That last statement by O'Reilly is clearly what O'Reilly's "liars" on the internet are referring to...his entire point...it's his ENDORSEMENT OF A PUBLIC OPTION.
But here's the clip he presents yesterday...trying to show us all what he REALLY said, as if to say 'how could anybody in their right mind think THAT was an endorsement of the public option?':
O’REILLY: The public option now is done. We discussed this, it’s not going to happen. (BIG OBVIOUS CUT HERE) If the government can come up with a marketplace where a bunch of insurance companies come together to offer lower premiums...that's a good thing.
End of clip.
And here's how Goldberg responds to that glaring cut, and O'Reilly's blatant spin:
GOLDBERG: Bill, Bill, don’t shoot the messenger. Right? I’m your friend. I’m telling you this as a friend. You also said, "If the government can cobble together a cheaper insurance policy that gives the same benefits, I see that as a plus for the folks." Now, I know what you meant by that.
O’REILLY: But I clarified it: private hands.
GOLDBERG: You did. You absolute — you absolutely did. But you’re a big prize for the left. But they can get... What I’m saying is when — when you say — when you say if the government can cobble...
O’REILLY: I clarified. I know what you’re saying, but it’s just drives me crazy that you can’t have an honest dialogue in this country anymore.
