Welcome, my malted barley brethren to Friday Night Beer Blogging. We gather here to discuss the issues of the day, but mostly we'll talk about beer. Although certain doctors have advised against it, I cannot quit my favorite pastime. I love beer, and tonight I'm drinking a Michelob Golden Draft. It's delicious.
This weekly series [used to be posted Friday nights around 7PM CST, sorry about the last six months, I was being good] started because I stayed in to watch Battlestar Galactica, and I needed to pass some time while waiting for it to start. Now, since I certainly need an excuse to keep up the series, I blog here to occupy myself whilst waiting for Dollhouse, which is premiering tonight. Eliza might be the only girl I need on Friday night... Well her and themis.
FNBB, has five static questions that we'd like you to answer in your first post, to get the conversation started (well I guess the beer does that, but answer them anyway damnit). These are followed (most of the time) by an additional five questions that change every week regarding other crap.
Okay, grab a bottle opener and follow me below the fold.
- What are you drinking, and if it's prune juice, try a fiber suppliment instead? It tastes way less gross.
- Did you tell anyone you had plans, just so you could hang out on DKos?
- How early did you skip out of work this afternoon?
- Are you going to be fixated on your computer monitor all weekend (as I'm sure I will be), or are you going to do anything interesting? If so, what is it?
- What's your reason for beer blogging tonight?
h/t to a consistant Friday post on Rich Meyer's Capitol Fax Blog, who's title was so excellent, I borrowed it, but I think I'm still good with fair use, because I added night.
Okay, new 6-10. I know, crazy huh? I'm feeling productive this evening.
- Have you perused Politico recently? It's filled with crazies, and a few Dems who try to set them straight. It's like going to RedState, but with the wingnuts getting schooled. They were defending torture today, based on efficacy. Luckily someone pointed out George Washington's view on the issue:
Should any American soldier be so base and infamous as to injure any [prisoner]. . . I do most earnestly enjoin you to bring him to such severe and exemplary punishment as the enormity of the crime may require. Should it extend to death itself, it will not be disproportional to its guilt at such a time and in such a cause... for by such conduct they bring shame, disgrace and ruin to themselves and their country.
. Tell me wingnuts, who's anti-American now?
- I normally don't get down on Obama, but do you think he's being too wishy-washy about torture-gate TM? Do you want to see a special prosecutor?
- Will said prosecutions hurt the Democrats politically, and if so, do you care? Are we a people of principle over politics, or are we just like the Republicans?
- What was your first exclamation when you heard about NY-20 today? If your response was,"about fucking time" I think you're in the majority.
- Without counting, how many seperate questions did I actually ask in the this nights beer blog? I ran up the tally in 6-10 a bit.
