My father, who is a retired marketing wizard, is a lifelong (until now) Republican who voted for Obama. He is no longer a Republican, and he is for healthcare reform, preferably single-payer. He asked me: "Why can't the Obama administration make it easy for people to see how healthcare reform would affect them? Surely the administration can find someone who can come up with a powerful one-page summary of exactly what people would get from the new program."
I think the key here is "one page." Something clear and simple, so ordinary people can get a better idea of how this change would affect them.
When I go to healthreform.gov, I find lots of great information, information that I'm sure Daily Kos members have pored over... but there needs to be a single page for other people that tells exactly what people will get. The Health Insurance Reform Reality Check
http://www.whitehouse.gov/...
is a good start, but there still needs to be a hard-hitting one-page summary somewhere (is there?), and it should be easy to find.
Is there someone in the administration (or outside of it) who could come up with something like this? Is the problem that no one really knows what the plan is yet? Is the problem that projected costs seem to be much higher than originally thought?
And here is my main question: how does a person like me let Obama know that he would do well to hire an excellent marketing person to make things simple and concise in order to reach the people who don't want to put the time and effort into reading a lot of text (most Americans?)
Thanks for any suggestions!
