I have lived in this country all my life, and I have never seen such extreme hatred from the right wing Republicans. I can't watch the news anymore. I ask myself, in this political climate WWGW do?
I can see it now. People would have been arrested for being terrorists. American citizens bringing guns to town hall meetings, gone. Treason would have been the "WORD" used to describe those who disagreed with government policies, especially in a time of WAR. However, back in GW's day, civility was the keyword of the underdog party. Just the threat of such possibilities kept our mouths shut. Yes there were outraged Democrats that believed our civil rights were disappearing before our eyes, and no doubt, there were lists of those who spoke out and wiretapping of their personal calls for the purpose of gathering information about them. With possible consequences as well. The atmosphere of that time was one of fear and belief that this country would never be the same again. Talk about taking freedoms away. And GW never cared much for pleasing the Democrats. In fact, in my opinion, he never took the party into consideration until this country chose to elect a majority in the house and the senate. I guess that's when he opened his eyes. Bipartisanship was not a word in his vocabulary. Still, he pretty much did what he pleased. I blame the Democratic Party for that. They had the power and didn't use it.
The majority of this nation chose to elect a different man and a different party to lead our government. For the few and the angry, this doesn't work for them. They seem to believe in some way that they are entitled to cause fear and bring on anarchy , what they do best, to rile up the nuts over anything that they can twist into a cause.
Fight, and fight hard against anything that our President tries to achieve and make it a failure. Who cares if this country goes down. "We Won" like rooting for your favorite team. The mentality escapes me. No health care for anybody, no "pep talks" for kids in school, to wish them a successful year, no energy reform. no stimulus that works, and no change in the broken Washington system that seems to get worse and worse.
I guess GW had it right all along. He kept those nuts under control by pretending to agree with them, did whatever he wanted stepped on everyone's toes, but he was a guy from Texas that anyone would love to have a beer with. And by God, he kept this country "safe" from terrorist attacks for (7)? years. I say, President Obama should take a page from GW's book and follow the same road to success.
After all what's he got to lose? Just his self respect and the respect of each person who voted for him. No big deal. It's what GW did.
