An elementary school in North Carolina adds it's name to the list of schools refusing to carry the President's address to school children today. But there's something odd about their choice of heroes displayed on their school's marquee...
Claremont Elementary School in North Carolina, one of the schools that is refusing to carry the President’s speech, put a quote from Winston Churchill on their Marquee.. It reads "The Price of Greatness is Responsibility".
The school is in a very conservative county that voted 67 percent for John McCain. One of the parents interviewed said that Obama was moving us toward "communism".
Too bad these conservatives don’t know history. If they did, they’d be censoring Winston Churchill. Here is what Churchill, one of the founding fathers of the National Health Service in Britain, said about socialized medicine:
"The discoveries of healing science must be the inheritance of all. That is clear. Disease must be attacked, whether it occurs in the poorest or the richest man or woman simply on the ground that it is the enemy; and it must be attacked just in the same way as the fire brigade will give its full assistance to the humblest cottage as readily as to the most important mansion. Our policy is to create a national health service in order to ensure that everybody in the country, irrespective of means, age, sex, or occupation, shall have equal opportunities to benefit from the best and most up-to-date medical and allied services available."
Hmmmm....
