I just returned from the Omaha Press Club, where I announced that I'm running for Congress.
People I've talked to across the district – from Bennington to Bellevue, from North Omaha to Papillion – have told me they no longer feel they have someone fighting for them in Congress. They feel that their future has taken a backseat to partisan politics.
No matter which party controls Congress, Nebraskans I've talked to feel the needs of ordinary Americans aren't being met. Lee Terry and too many other politicians in D.C. spend too much time trying to score cheap shots for their party and not enough time working together to meet the challenges facing our country.
It's time for independent, effective leadership. Click here to help me spread the word: TomWhite2010.com/announcement
As a state Senator and as an attorney handling civil rights cases, I've fought hard for working families and for those who don't have a voice in the halls of power. I first look to resolve disputes with negotiation, but when our core values are at stake, I never back down from a fight.
The Omaha area I've known for decades has grown and changed. We are now a bustling metropolitan area encompassing several thriving communities in Douglas and Sarpy counties, but we still hold on to our core values and our infectious optimism. We're a community on the move, and we know our best days are ahead.
We need elected leaders who share this vision. I'm running for Congress because I know that with my unwavering independence and record of results, I can do more for Nebraska.
I hope you'll join me. Help start building the grassroots network it will take to win by forwarding this message to 10 friends today: TomWhite2010.com/announcement
Thank you for all you do,
