First, I think the best response to Joe Wilson's incredible breech of decorum is to contribute to his opponent, Rob Miller, as outlined in eurthamudtoes diary.
The second response should be to write your representatives urging them to pass meaningful health care reform.
Now for the third response, I have an idea that will be both fun, satisfying (for us) and possibly make news, if enough people follow through with it.
Follow me below the fold!
This diary won't be very long, as it is simply an idea.
I was struck by Joe Wilson's incredible lack of etiquette and respect for the office he holds and the office of the President of the United States of America.
An incredible lack of etiquette...
Initially I was mad, of course, but then I got to thinking: what is the proper response to someone who has no sense of decorum or good manners? I realized that this is essentially a learning opportunity (or, more appropriately, an opportunity for us to teach Rep. Wilson).
And who is the foremost authority on etiquette? Why, Emily Post, of course!
So, you can get mad, and rant and rave. You can donate to Joe Wilson's opponent (and you should)...but after you've done that, if you want to have a little fun at Joe Wilson's expense, you should join me in purchasing a copy of Emily Post's book Etiquette, and having it sent to Rep. Wilson's office.
Imagine the headlines and utter hilarity of thousands of copies of Emily Post's Etiquette showing up at Rep. Wilson's office.
Here is a link to Amazon.com page where you can purchase the book. And here is his office address info (his House website is currently down, but I think this is the right address. If you know something more, please comment.)
Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina
