As folks are pointing out, the MA Senate race is currently a tossup, with demotivated Democrats and energized Indepndents & Republicans.
Kossacks want to push the MA progressives to start getting out the vote, while progressives, irritated at the broken promises, awful legislation and right-wing compromises, are bristling at the idea of turning out to support Democrats to get more of the same.
It would be hilarious if it weren't so awful.
Overall, this is going to be a test of both the Democratic Party and Progressives in general.
Progressives got more organised than in decades before, gave Democrats 60 seats and got Obama into the White House. Democrats responded by proposing sweeping reforms, thenm allowing Republicans, BlueDogs, Lieberman, Baucus and Nelson gut all of the reforms and give us awful bills.
Now the Democrats are in a bind. Progressives are demoralised and the 41st vote is up for grabs. If Progressives do show up and mount an offense and secure aDemocratic Senator, we thank the Dems & Obama for all the awful work done so far. If we don't, then the 41st vote goes Republican and that's the end of this Congress.
I don't have answers, but Obama & the Democratic Party better be listening. They've given us nothing so far yet need us to show up to keep them in power. I think they'll pull it off, but will it serve as a wakeup call?
