Miep Gies, one of the people that hid Anne Frank, has died at age 100.
Ms. Gies, who had worked for Anne's father Otto and had collected her papers to form the diary had been in a Dutch nursing home since a fall last year.
During an interview on her hundredth birthday she modestly said that many more people did more than she did to save Dutch Jews.
At this point the only place I've seen this mentioned is on the BBC News website. Certainly no American news organization seems to have picked up on it.
I know this is rather short for a diary but I think the article speaks more eloquently than I can.
Edit: Wow! Top of the Rec List. I'll take that as a testimony to Miep Gies heroism than me, but thak you regardless.
