Just like my title indicates I'm going to make this short and not so sweet. There is a vastly important election taking place this coming Tues in the state of Massachusetts. It is an election that is not about either candidate. It doesn't matter if one of them posed nude for a camera, and it doesn't matter if the other is a popular Attorney General.
This election is about the future of health-care in this nation and whether the republicans can make good on their boast that health care will be Barack Obama's waterloo. It is about all those people who desperately need a beginning to the process of reforming health care, and all those other people who have vowed to do everything they can to stop this reform.
I said this earlier in a comment, but it's much too important for a mere comment. I've been saying it all week. We need to do whatever we can for Coakley to make sure that the republicans don't succeed here. In many ways this election is not only a referendum on health care, but it's a referendum on the entire Obama presidency. We worked too hard to elect this president to just see it all slip away, because we can't close a deal in the democratic state of Massachusetts.
We need to stop arguing amongst ourselves about who has a better health care proposal, and who has a better public option, and what we could have done better, or who should have run, or who is a good candidate, and who isn't. There will be plenty of time for recriminations next Wed. if this thing doesn't go our way.
We have 4 days left. This election is as crucial as it gets. They say we're not enthusiastic. Well, then, let's show them some real enthusiasm. Let's show them how we elected a president, and a senate and a house. We can do this thing.
Contribute, make calls, go there this weekend and volunteer. This is still our time and, YES, we still can. http://www.actblue.com/...
